In the US, September 1st is Labor Day (the Danish version of May 1st), and I've spent my Labor Day weekend in Thomasville, neighboring village to Valdosta, with Scott and Peggy Rich, who were kind to have all three of us stay over the entire weekend.
We've had each our own bedroom and bathroom, and it's been really luxurious compared to our dorm rooms :-)
We've been hanging out by the pool, drinking cold beer and eating nice food, and we've been comparing countries and cultures. We started out with lunch in one of the most popular restaurants in town, and one of the first things I noticed was how many people were working in a rather small restaurant with room for around 60 guests. There were roughly 15 people working, waiters, bust-boys, seaters, and a few where I honestly didn't know what they were doing, other than getting in the way. Compared to Denmark, you would put 3 waiters, tops! :-)
Saturday was the beginning of college football season, so it was another football night. Sunday morning we had another church experience, and Scott and Peggy's eldest daughter came over for supper with her three sons and her husband: the Mayor of Thomasville. Last, but not least, Monday started out with a trip to their farm to shoot a shotgun!
I've tried to shoot one of the very, very small shotguns before, but not a "real" one like this, and even though we were using a small gauge, you could definitely feel both the recoil and the bang!
Thomasville is a really nice small town, and also the place where GRSP was founded more than 50 years ago.
